Oren E. Barnhart

Barney, his wife, Hope, and their three shihtzus live in Eaton Park, Florida. He has four children. He worked in food service and as a Headstart manager, and is semi retired. Hope is a Wal Mart receiving manager. They met at the University of Florida at Gainesville.

 

Oren is very active in volunteer work , spending about 40 hours per month helping others. He’s a garden guide at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales. He is also District Chairman of “Garden Therapy Thru Plants” at Avon Park Prison. He says, “We do make a difference in these people giving them the tools to have a life after prison. There are five greenhouses, a man-made island, and a picnic area.”

 

He doesn’t long for the good old days and he thinks life is a lot easier today than it was back then.

 

Oren and Hope enjoy live performances of major entertainers, local band concerts, flower shows, symphony orchestra and Broadway type musical performances, and county fairs.

 

He is proud of … “My volunteer work.”

 

Barney’s message to his classmates is …

 

“Don’t spend your time with ‘if’ or ‘maybe’, but concentrate on ‘now’”!

 

After graduating from EHS, Oren took some courses in security training and in food management.
