Stock Street Elementary School

The Stock Street Elementary school predated the new high school which opened in 1932. The Eichelberger building served as both a high school and elementary building until 1941when the elementary grades were moved to the newly constructed Penn Street building. Because the roles of the the two schools were so different and for the purposes of archiving, we have created a new section call Stock Street Elementary. We believe that this is a legitimate name for this new section based on the oral and written histories presented in these archives. Elementary photos included on the Eichelberger High School  page have been moved to this page.
Note: James Sadler [class of 1951] notes that there were two first grades at Stock Street Elementary in 1939.

The photographs below have been contributed by James A. Sadler [class of 1951]. He recalls that the third grade picture was taken at Eichelberger and the class moved to Penn Street during the year the picture was taken. Penn Street opened in the middle of the 1940-41 school year.
